About Us

Hello, I am Sylvie Collett, welcome to my website, Sewantiques. I hope this introduction will provide you with useful information about me and the antiques I sell.

I have been involved with both antiques and needlework for many years and since 1995 have managed to combine these interests. I specialise in antique needlework tools, including work boxes, pincushions, thimbles, lace bobbins, etuis, necessaires, tape measures, needlecases, and chatelaines. In addition to the sewing related antiques I also sell Tunbridgeware, Mauchlineware and Tartanware, hat pins, button hooks, scent bottles and occasionally, samplers.

My other stock consists mainly of small silverware including decanter labels, caddy spoons, bookmarks etc., snuff boxes, Georgian to Edwardian glassware including “Mary Gregory”, and other objets du virtu. The items I stock are almost all over 100 years old and as such will usually have some signs of wear commensurate with age. Any major defects, damage or repairs will be noted in the item description.

I do not trade, or in any way condone the trade of post 1947 ivory or other endangered species. Any items I have for sale made from or containing ivory, tortoiseshell or other items listed under the CITES regulations are guaranteed to be legal and of the age stated in the item description. I strongly believe the illegal trade in modern endangered species of any kind should be banned.

I live in Lincolnshire, UK, but exhibit stock at a number of antiques fairs in the UK if you wish to view items. The details of these can be found under the Fairs Calendar button. I also occasionally list items on eBay.co.uk under the seller ID “sylvie.c” and there is a link to these items from the home page.

I trade from

48 South Street,
Horncastle,
